Family Learning Institute (FLI) is a community and volunteer-based non-profit dedicated to closing the achievement gap in Washtenaw County through one-on-one reading, writing, and math tutoring, mentoring, and support services for youth from low income households.
We are tucked away near Benny's diner (great breakfast!) on South Industrial - so you probably have driven past FLI many times and had NO idea we were there. Our volunteers spend one hour a week tutoring the same student for the entire school year. If you volunteer at FLI, you really get to know your student and you make a huge difference in their academic skill levels. FLI is a small non-profit, and we do not charge for our tutoring, so we are always looking to find some extra moolah to pay the rent, keep the lights on and buy paper and pencils. So...here we are on crowdrise!
