HERE'S THE STORY:
Able Flight makes it possible for people with disabilities to become pilots, and it asks one thing of them in return: Find a way to help others.
In January 2011, Able Flight pilots Heather Schultz and Sean O'Donnell will do just that. They'll fly a specially adapted airplane on a multi-city tour of a thousand miles to demonstrate to wounded veterans and others that paralysis or other disabilities are no barrier for them.
Years ago, Sean became a paraplegic as the result of a motorcycle accident, and just over three years ago, Heather became a quadriplegic because of a diving accident. Now, they have something new in common-they are both licensed pilots.
And at stops along their journey, they'll meet with patients of veterans centers and spinal cord rehab hospitals to tell their stories of how they have overcome challenges to become pilots. They'll tell them of the freedom that can be earned with hard work, determination and willpower.
Sean and Heather are also using the journey to raise funds for Able Flight scholarships to make it possible for wounded veterans to follow them by facing and overcoming their own challenges.
Their request is a simple one:
Just give any amount per mile. Give a penny per mile and it's $10, a nickel per mile and it's $50, $1 per mile...well, you can do the math.
Your donation will do more than change the lives of veterans who have served and paid a price, it will forever change the way people see them, and in that, you will change the world.
