HERE'S THE STORY:
For the past four years Able Flight has been changing the lives of people with disabilities in profound ways, by making it possible for them to become pilots, and and it asks one thing of them in return: Find a way to help others.
Now, two of them have found a great way to give back. In January 2011, Able Flight pilots Heather Schultz and Sean O'Donnell will fly a specially-adapted airplane on a multi-city tour of a thousand miles to demonstrate to wounded veterans that disabilities are no barrier for them. And, it's their goal to raise $15,000 to make it possible for others to follow them by facing and overcoming their own challenges.
Years ago, Sean became a paraplegic as the result of a motorcycle accident, and just over three years ago, Heather became a quadriplegic because of a diving accident. Now, they have something new in common-they are both licensed pilots.
At stops along their journey, they'll meet with patients of veterans centers to tell their stories of how they have overcome challenges to become pilots. They'll tell them of the freedom that can be earned with hard work, determination and willpower.
Their request is a simple one:
Just give any amount per mile. Give a penny per mile and it's $10, a nickel per mile and it's $50, $1 per mile...well, you can do the math.
Your donation changes more than the lives of people like Sean and Heather, it changes the way people see them, and in that, you will change the world.
