**** UPDATE 7/7/11 - I no longer need 100% wheelchair assistance!!! The chemo is working and I have a cane now! A really cute one with flowers painted on it, too... =) Regardless, my chair was the only way to get around for a while. I want everyone who needs one to have the ability to have one! Thanks for your support, we're almost at the $500 goal! ****

This project is near and dear to my heart as I am currently wheelchair bound. Having the option of wheelchair mobility with somewhat relative ease is something I took for granted. That was until I saw the stories and photos of the people in impoverished countries that were forced to move around by dragging themselves, or just couldn't move around at all.
Then the most amazing part was the gentleman who invented the low-cost wheelchair that is made of things that are so simple to acquire and assemble. It makes it affordable!!!
Most people walk around every day and never think about what it would be like to not be able to just get up on your two feet and walk to the fridge. Think about it. Don't take your mobility for granted. Even I thought my standard, folding wheelchair was pretty basic. But I realized even that was a luxury to many people in poor countries.
This is an amazing cause, absolutely genius!
