Support our mission by creating your own fundraiser. Friends of Gold Butte is an active group of Southern Nevadans enjoying the incredible 350,000 acre landscape known as Gold Butte. Sandwiched between Lake Mead National Recreation Area and the Grand Canyon Parashant National Monument, Gold Butte is known as Nevada’s piece of the Grand Canyon puzzle.
Friends of Gold Butte aspires to preserve and protect the cultural and natural resources in the Gold Butte area while providing volunteer based education and interpretive programs. We are advocating for permanent preservation and protection through National Conservation Area with Wilderness designation.
As a new 5013.c, we are a bit short on money but long on ideas. For the remainder of the year we plan to host, for the first time, the Wild & Scenic Film Festival in Mesquite. We will continue our successful education program presented throughout Las Vegas at Elementary Schools, Senior Centers and civic organizations. Plans for restoration projects in partnership with the Bureau of Land Management are coming together for our second National Public Lands Day volunteer event.
In between events we schedule hikes and assist the BLM restoration team as needed. Our monthly meetings include presentations on the many diverse cultural and natural resources in Gold Butte. If you are interested in being a member of Friends of Gold Butte drop me a note at: email@example.com
Hope to see you in the desert!
