Crowdrise is designed to help Volunteers and Fundraisers answer the call to service, raise money for Charity, and have the most fun in the world while doing it. To make sure we don't go out of business trying to help everyone raise lots of money for Charity, Crowdrise deducts 5% on donations made through our site and a $1 transaction fee for donations under $25 or a $2.50 transaction fee for donations $25 and over.

For example, with a $100 donation:

PROJECT TITLE

Give your Project Page a Title so everyone knows what you're doing. Your Project Title does not need to be the name of the Charity you're supporting. It can be anything you want (e.g. Veronica's Volunteering at the Soup Kitchen, Davey's New York Marathon Fundraiser, Super Naked Beach Cleaning, etc).

WHAT IS A URL?

My mom asked me to write this because she had no idea what a URL is. A URL is the web address that you use to get to a web page. For example, the URL for Google is www.google.com. The URL for Crowdrise is www.crowdrise.com. We let you pick your own Crowdrise URL, mostly because it's nice to have a URL that's easy to remember and is personal to you. So, if your name is Victor Wang, maybe you want your URL to be www.crowdrise.com/victorwang. Or if your Project Title is Save the Whales, maybe you want your URL to be www.crowdrise.com/savethewhales. You only need to type in the part that comes after www.crowdrise.com/.

If that's still confusing, you can just skip this and we'll pick a URL for you.

This is the most important and most exciting part of Crowdrise. Your Fundraising Goal is the amount of money you hope to raise for Charity. Whether you're volunteering on weekends, running in a marathon, or have a cause you care deeply about, we make it super easy for you to raise money online for a Charity of your choice (you'll choose the charity during this sign up process). WHAT IS A PROJECT TEAM?

There's no better way to make a Project viral than by creating or joining a Project Team.

A Project Team is a group of Fundraisers or Volunteers, all working together for a common cause. It's like communism but more fun. Start or Join a Project Team if you want to go beyond donating money and get more involved by spreading the word about the Project to your friends, family, co-workers, etc. Everyone on the Team gets their own Project Page with the click of a button so we make it quick and easy to join the Team and even easier to tell your friends about it. Donating cash to a Project is amazing and much appreciated but imagine the impact you can have if you go a step further and ask everyone you know to donate too. And then a couple of them join the Team and spread the word to all their friends. We've seen this work successfully over and over and it can work for this Project too.

CLOSING THE LOOP Closing the Loop means making your supporters feel the real-life impact their support is having. Here's how you Close the Loop, Crowdrise-style. First of all, don't ever use the phrase Crowdrise-style. If you just follow that rule, you should be fine. Second of all, make sure you reply to your supporters' comments and send personal thank you emails when they donate. Third of all, when your Project is complete, upload new photos, videos and stories on your Project page to show everyone how the campaign went and how their money is being used. For example, if your Project raised money to build a well, let your supporters know that thanks to them, the well is now active and hundreds of kids now have access to safe drinking water.
