Sponsored Volunteerism is the idea that whether you're volunteering to mentor students for a year, helping to build an orphanage in Kenya, doing community service at a local shelter on weekends, or just getting a bunch of friends together to help clean up a hiking trail, you should be getting sponsored. If you don't know what that means, here's the easiest explanation ever -- marathon runners email all their friends before a race and ask them to sponsor their effort and all the money they raise goes to their favorite charity. All we're saying is, that's exactly what we want volunteers to do.

Simply create a project page on Crowdrise to show the amazing volunteer work you're doing and then message all your friends and family and ask them to sponsor you. If they don't give at least a little cash money, you probably shouldn't participate in the singing at their next birthday party.

We're huge believers in Sponsored Volunteerism at Crowdrise but we need your help to make it the coolest, most exciting new way to raise money for charity. There is a culture of giving around marathons we love and support, but it just doesn't exist around volunteerism and it should. Volunteers put in the time and energy and deserve to get sponsored. Together we are going to make that happen and one day you can tell your grandkids that you were part of the sponsored volunteerism movement. Granted, they won't care but it's still a nice thing to say.
