BENEFITING: Pat and Emmitt Smith Charities

THE STORY:

We founded Pat and Emmitt Smith Charities to make a difference and to strengthen the lives of others. Our organization dreams of a day when no child is left behind, and equitable access to resources is the first step. Using proceeds from high-impact events featuring first-class entertainment, Pat and Emmitt Smith Charities (PESC) creates experiences and distributes grants to high-quality non-profits providing historically underserved children with arts, education, health and wellness programming.

Through initiatives like Team 22, scholarship donations and contributions to local organizations, we're giving kids the opportunity to lead happy, productive and eventful lives.

This year, we want to do even more, and you can help!

In memory of my sister Kimberlee Jett who died in childbirth 16 years ago from Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. I have raised her son since birth as my own, diagnosing him with this condition at age 13 when doctors could not find the reasons for all of his symptoms as my sister had the same symtoms. I have volunteered for Ehlers Danlos Network CARES since 2008 before my suspicions were confirmed via genetic testing. We hold fundraisers as often as possible just to raise enough money to start a research project and keep others funded to hopefully find a treatment or a cure. London had his first bowel rupture last January and It scared the hell out of me, I thought I was going to loose him as his body is missing the glue that holds him together which results in spontaneous ruptures of every part of the body. My goal is to keep fighting, raising awareness, finding projects and grants to lengthen his life expectancy. 1 year ago
