HERE'S THE STORY:

Sophia Bush wrote -

"I have been a fan and supporter of Global Green for many years, and I have been living a 'green' life for a long time. My environmental loving heart broke when I began seeing images of the oil spill in the Gulf. And I went a-marching, with Global Green, down to Louisiana to see, firsthand, what was happening there. I went angry, I came back enraged. I want to help the locals in the Gulf, people that no one else is helping. I want to raise awareness, and help everyone who cares get to the truth, and become a better society for it. Yeah, I dream big. And I like to. I hope you all do too."

For more info watch the video !

Here's what's happening one year after the spill : http://abcnews.go.com/US/gulf-oil-spill-year-marshes-oil/story?id=13420874

Please donate for the gulf, its natural habitat depends on it, the people living there depend on it.

Facts about what is turning out to be one of the worst oil disasters in history:

1.     16,000 total miles of coastline have been affected, including the coasts of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida.

2.     Even though the gushing well was capped in July 2010, oil is still washing up on shores, which might do long-term damages to humans affected.

3.     The initial oil rig explosion killed 11 people and injured 17 others.

4.     Responders used 5.5 million feet of boom, a barrier placed in water, to collect and absorb oil.

5.     Of the 400 miles of Louisiana coast, approximately 125 miles have been polluted by the oil spill.

6.     One method of treating the oil spill is "in-situ burning" or burning oil in a contained area on the surface of the water. Oil spills are bad, but burning is also bad for the environment.

7.     Over 1,000 animals (birds, turtles, mammals) have been reported dead, including many already on the endangered species list. Of the animals affected by the spill that are still alive only about 6% have been reported cleaned, but many biologists and other scientists predict they will die too.

8.     The BP Oil Spill is the biggest in American history, with between 17 and 39 million gallons spilled in the Gulf of Mexico.
