The Global Orphan Project, Inc. (‘GO Project’ or ‘GO’) is a global orphan care ministry headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri. GO Project mobilizes local churches in some of the poorest areas on earth to care for the neediest orphaned and vulnerable children in their communities; children of last resort with no viable means of care. A vibrant, viral network of global givers fuels the growth of this grassroots movement for orphans.
The Global Orphan Project is also excited to introduce GO Threads…a sustainability initiative of The Global Orphan Project. GO Threads sewing centers are small businesses located in extremely poor areas of the world. The centers create local jobs; produce quality clothing, including children’s school uniforms; and generate profits to help sustain orphan care costs. Turning tragedy into opportunity, a unique global partnership with a key U.S. partner drives GO Threads. That partner? YOU!
Win a trip to Africa! From September 1st until December 31st, team leaders will rally together to help place as many $20 orders for uniforms for children as possible in the 2011 Team Challenge. The teams that sell the most uniforms will be eligible to win great prizes, including the Grand Prize, a trip for two to Uganda where you will see firsthand the sewing centers and visit children in GO Project-partner led villages. In addition to prizes, The Global Orphan Project will award the Grand Prize team leader with the 2011 Mike Fox Leadership Award. The recipient of this award and a guest will be flown to Kansas City for recognition at GO Project’s annual BIG Event in September of 2012.

These guys get the curse of poverty and the causes of poverty - at a deep level. They also strive hard to deliver highly effective solutions to minister to the recipients holistically - mind, heart, and soul. I also appreciate how they partner with local churches to disciple recipients and to hold the leaders of the sewing centers accountable in the areas of quality, money management and treatment of employees. OK, one more thing, love how they understand that creating jobs in the poorest of the poor communities around the world may lift families out of the curse of poverty - permanently and enable the workers to gain dignity and self-confidence and independence from work well done!
