BENEFITING: GREENHOUSE THEATER CENTER NFP
HERE'S THE STORY:
The Greenhouse is my artistic home. It's also the artistic home to six resident theatre companies, two youth theatre/music programs, and countless other theatre, improv, burlesque, and fine arts companies in Chicago. It's where I come to work every day and it's often where I hang out at night - since there's just so darn much going on here all the time.
The Greenhouse is in the middle of Lincoln Park in Chicago. It's an affluent neighbourhood, though we're a little broke when it comes to contributed income. I'm doing whatever I can right now to change that. My goal is to start a contributed income campaign and increase the annual budget of the company over the next 2 years. And I'm realizing now that that's a lot of work!
Here's the nitty-gritty (i.e. our actual mission statement):
To nurture small to mid-size theater companies toward continued growth and expression in an artists’ space at the heart of the Chicago theater community. We strive to provide an epicenter for diverse artistic points of view and excellent entertainment through area partnerships, annual programming, educational events, careful selection of resident theater companies, affiliations with the League of Chicago Theaters, and local Chambers of Commerce.
I hope you'll help me with my goals for this amazing company. We're an important piece of the Chicago Theater Community - both in a "bricks & mortar" location and in the artistic spirit kind of ways.
