KENYA SCHOOL UNIFORMS
GOT YOUR BACK
HERE'S THE STORY:
MISSION: PROVIDE 600 SCHOOL UNIFORMS TO KENYAN GIRLS IN NEED
In January 2003, the Kenyan government introduced free primary education nationwide. For families who face the daily struggle to survive, this was a great triumph. However, one barrier remained: the expense of mandatory school uniforms. Since that day, children whose families cannot meet that cost have continued on without an education.
That is why the Got Your Back Movement has made a commitment to providing the girls of Lwala, Kenya with uniforms and the hope of possibility. You might be asking, "Why girls?". In a country such as Kenya, education for girls is vital to creating sustainable change. In addition to economical benefits for the community, girls who receive an education are seven times less susceptible to HIV and their children are 40% more likely to survive. By removing one of the biggest financial barriers these girls face, you are helping to restore purpose in a country where women are the least likely to receive an education and you are providing a foundation for their children to be raised on.
In addition, every school uniforms for this initiative is going to be produced locally in Africa. Got Your Back remains committed to bringing sustainable change whenever and wherever possible.
One (1) complete school uniform costs $20.00 USD.
