HERE'S THE STORY:
Every single weekend of the year, Animal Care Network (ACN) volunteers pick up between 10 and 30 unwanted and abandoned animals in Pontiac.
In addition to picking up abandoned animals, ACN volunteers provide an average of 650 animal wellness checks for animals in Pontiac every single month. Many of these animals live outdoors. ACN will provide food, water and proper a doghouse (fiberglass doghouse placed off the ground on a wood pallet with straw to regulate an animal’s temperature in extreme weather) in exchange for the dog owner arranging for the animal to be spayed or neutered through the group’s low-cost clinics.
Also, the Animal Care Network offers two low-cost immunization clinics each year. These are open to pet owners of any Michigan community. Life-saving shots cost only $10.
MAAN / ACN has been helping Metro Detroit animals since 1994. To date, MAAN has placed more than 4,500 dogs and cats through their Adopt-A-Pet program and ACN has visited over 90,000 addresses to offer assistance. Over 5,600 cats and dogs have been sterilized as well.These programs have received national recognition from Animal Planet, The History Channel and Linda Ellerbee of Nickelodeon News.
