Hello. I am a graphic designer from Japan. I was working on a Japan Guide book which will be in store in summer. I was hoping it would help people to get interested in visiting Japan. Then, this disaster hit Japan so badly. Now what should I do? My beautiful country got destroyed, people in Japan is facing the biggest challenge ever... I made a donation to American Red Cross. But one person can't do much. So what's next?
I have been following all news about Japanese earthquake all the time and it made me cry. It made all of my Japanese friends in NY so sad and we wanted to do something together to show victims in Japan our support.
So my friend and I, both designers, thought we could use our creative network to do something for raising money.
We are asking our friends to draw or design art work and will create buttons for fund raising. All profits will be donated to American Red Cross.
Japanese people in Tohoku (Northern area) are really suffering right now. It is really heart-breaking to see these people who lost everything. It will be really long way to recover.
My friends from all over the world sent me messages and said "My prayer and thoughts are with you" It is simple but it made me feel better. I wanted to let people in Tohoku (the Northern area) know that there are TONS of people all over the World care about them and think about them. They are not alone.
I think what they need is hope. (and money of course) It is so hard to believe they can re-built their communities again. That is what I want to show by making people like YOU wearing this button to show that you care.
Showing Japanese people there are many people thinking about them.
You might think Japan is rich country so they will be ok. NO! The damage they got is huge. They need everybody's support.
Please show a hope!
