THE STORY:
Kat Libby wrote -
We met two little boys on the road next to the land. They currently do not attend school, because they cannot afford school fees. We asked them, "If we built a school here, would you come to attend the school?"
Without hesitation, they answered, "Wi!"
Hope of Haiti will build a school for hundreds of homeless children in a neighborhood destroyed by the earthquake in Petionville, Haiti. Reader to Reader is working in partnership with Haeinn Woo and OFPDH (Organization of the Proud Patriots for the Development of Haiti) to bring books, resources, tents and funds to the project. The project was established by the Haitian community itself and is managed with strong involvement from the community it serves.
In January 2011 a group of five students will be in Petionville. They want to bring the first wave of supplies down to the area and have enough money to purchase the land: $2,500. Please consider donating, joining the team and telling everyone about this wonderful effort:
Not only because a little gift can SAVE their lives, not only because they are the POOREST children in Western Hemisphere, not only because they are the FUTURE of Haiti, not only because you will be BLESSED for doing this, but also because you know you MUST.
Please visit our website at http://www.hopeofhaiti.org/ and take a look at Haeinn's story, as well as many more photos of the area and the children this project serves.
