HOPe's Mission:
To provide support to families having children and adults living with developmental challenges; cognitive and/or physical by providing high quality programming and weekend respite services; including overnight respite that will support individuals and their families requiring 24/7 care.
What We Do:
We bring to life the ultimate potentiality for children & adults having developmental disabilities. The possibilities for developmentally disabled people are limitless and they are a remarkable gift to the rest of the world. Our vision is to break the barriers of what people think is possible for those with special needs. Additionally, we are the first respite home for children having developmental disabilities on a college campus (Stonehill College) in the United States.
Children's Programs:
We serve children, youth and young adults (8-22) with special needs, (excluding significant behavioral challenges or acute medical needs).
Saturday Respite: Operating from 10am-4pm, our program provides a focus on social skills enhances lives of families, friends and communities while increasing self-esteem and improving interpersonal skills of children and youth. Our meaningful activities include community outings, exercise, arts & crafts, nature walks, pet therapy, gardening, games, music, sports, and more.
Overnight Respite: This program opens up unique opportunities and activities that enhance a child’s social growth and development, and it allows families to relax into a weekend free of being “on call.” In addition, the child learns independence and self care skills.
Snack 'n' Chat: Our teens work together to cook a meal, have conversations during dinner, set the table and practice community living skills. Parents can stay and chat with other parents or have a few hours to themselves.
Adult Day Programs:
Employment Support Program: We will offer a limited number of full-time placements to individuals who meet our entrance criteria, with the primary objective to promote independence. Clients are provided with career options and assistance in defining recommended job goals.
Community Based Day Program: Our clients are supported in a variety of different need areas including vocational, skill building, community integration, and recreation. Individuals may also volunteer throughout the community.
Day Habilitation:These individualized programs offer clients the opportunity to pursue a variety of activities individually or within small groups, and are designed to stimulate and make their lives fulfilling and productive. We provide skills training and in areas of self-help, sensori-motor, communication, social, independent living, behavior and affective development.
