Please sponsor the staff of HandsOn Jacksonville to NOT run in The Human Race! (We'd run, but we'll be too busy making this event a fabulous opportunity for area nonprofits to raise money for their great causes!)
People often think of volunteering as "free" labor - and while that is partly true, effectively mobilizing volunteers comes at a cost. The staff of HandsOn Jacksonville works tirelessly to inspire, equip and mobilize people to change our community. Here's some of what we're currently up to:
Preparing for A Visit from St. Nicholas - a program that takes backpacks stuffed with books and toys into some of our most challenged schools
Conducting classes in effective volunteer management
Organizing volunteer projects that feed the hungry, mentor kids, take care of animals, preserve our land, grow community gardens, bring fun and companionship to people with disabilities, prepare kids for disasters, and so much more
Recruiting a new class of leaders for the 2011 Blueprint for Leadership program - which equips people to effectively serve on boards of nonprofits
Getting opportunities out to serve on 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance
