HERE'S THE STORY:
The Imagine Syracuse's Young Musician Project (iSYMP) is our most exciting program yet and is literally putting Syracuse on the international musical map! Inspired by Venezuela's El Sistema, iSYMP joins a groundbreaking global movement in music education that uses DAILY classical orchestral music training and enrichment to strengthen inner city education and help children as young as 5 become musicians, build better lives and grow healthier communities.
Daily music education is the key. Think of it like this: a high school soccer player practices every day after school with her team, building skills, teamwork and commitment. Teach music the same way and a kid can play the violin as if she'd been taking weekly private lessons for a year and a half! Our students become productive and committed musicians creating music that transcends themselves and their problems.
