WHAT WE DO:

InnVision the Way Home is Silicon Valley’s leading provider of housing and services for homeless families and individuals.

Our Mission:

InnVision is a primary gateway for homeless families and individuals seeking shelter and resources that lead to self-sufficiency. Our comprehensive system of care promotes self-worth and dignity at multiple facilities throughout Silicon Valley, including shelters, longer- term housing options and service centers, each equipped to meet emergency and transitional needs of diverse, at-risk people. InnVision is…the Way Home!

About Us:

In 1973, a small group of concerned citizens from nine churches, located in downtown San Jose, became alarmed by the growing numbers of homeless and at-risk individuals without homes. They decided to do something about it, and The San Jose Urban Ministry was born. At first the ministry provided only basic needs: blankets, food, love and support. Gradually, support expanded from the founding churches to include schools, civic groups, foundations, and some of the most successful companies in Silicon Valley.  As the agency expanded, the name was changed to InnVision the Way Home, and in 2002, InnVision merged with the Urban Ministry of Palo Alto, another organization founded with the belief that taking care of the homeless in our community must be a priority.

Today, InnVision the Way Home is the largest provider of housing and services for homeless and at-risk families and individuals in Silicon Valley, serving over 29,000 men, women, children, veterans and the mentally ill each year. InnVision has 38 years of demonstrated experience in successfully helping clients break the cycle of homelessness. The agency operates 25 sites and provides 425,000 meals and 190,000 nights of housing each year. Clients are men, women, and children who range in age from infants to seniors. Each housing program and day program within InnVision is therefore targeted to serve a specific segment of the client population. By empowering clients to gain the stability and skills necessary to reach independent living, InnVision meets both the emergency and longer-term needs of the homeless and at risk individuals and families in our community.

I found this is a notebook of poems I wrote when I was very young. When I found it I thought of Inn Vision and the people that have done so much for me.

People that Help People:

A friend and a family, a brotherhood blessed.
All kinds of people that can't seem to rest.

Not gossipers art, or rumors to spread,
Its what's in your heart and what's in your head.

Take what you need and give what you've got.
Count all your blessings and hope there's a lot.

If you have blessings and blessings to spare,

Help out a brother, cause its time to share.

Inn Vision is wonderful. Finding people in the world that live and work for the benefit of others is rare in this world and economy. Even more rare is finding people that are so talented and dedicated at doing what they do. Their work and the programs they provide do a lot more for people than can ever be measured.

I was too proud to ever expect to be on the other end of the helping hand. I am an expert at fixing everyone elses problems. I always have plenty of advise and suggestions for other people, (I think everyone is like that), but my life is plagued with problems that I just can't manage. Situations that I cannot break through to change and relationships that have devastated me. I have been crippled for years unable to help myself or lead a normal life. Disabled, divorced, unemployed, unemployable with an open workmans comp case and no income, bankrupted, homeless, and hopeless.

I moved into an Inn Vision apartment in January 2011. It has taken me all this time to shed my clouds of despair I lived under as I watched my life fall apart over the last ten years. I could not have done that without Inn Vision. Today it makes my day, every day as my clouds of despair fade more and more into the distance and my life view is brilliant and clear. Each day I look forward to how much more distant the fog will be next month and next year. The home Inn Vision provides for me has provided so much more for me than I could possibly explain.

Thank you Inn Vision for helping me. I think of you all each day and I thank you all for everything you do.

Sincerely,

Dale Holness
