Now that have the ability to, I truly believe that giving is one of the greatest blessings of success, which is why I started the Jason Kidd Foundation. Like many kids today, I grew up in a rough neighborhood and in an underprivileged school, and I can relate to so many of these kids and the conflicts that they face everyday.
So many schools are haunted with drugs, gunshot victims and high school dropouts, but we can make a difference and change things for the better by encouraging and empowering kids to think positively and to work toward their goals.
Everytime I talk to students or kids, elementary or high school, people are surprised that I want to become a teacher and want to focus on history. More importantly, I want to give students self-confidence and let them know that there's no reason why you can't raise your hand and ask for help.
Through mentoring, tutoring and technology programs, we can improve the education of these students and ensure that they gain the tools needed to succeed in life.
