Friends,

I'm writing this update to tell you about our upcoming Rivers of the World mission trip to Congo in early June. I will be part of a group that includes Jimmy and Jan Shafe, Lilibet Wilkerson, Sarah Stranahan, Mike Reinsel, Omba Ngandu, Ruthie Schaad and my wife, Melissa Johnson. We will spend time in Kinshasa, Tshikaji, Mbuji Mayi, Luebo, Bulape and Bibanga. I am particularly excited about being able to follow up on the results of the Mattresses for Congo project to see the impact we've made at the mission hospitals. We will also be taking medical supplies with us to Congo, and look forward to distributing them to the places where they are needed.

We continue in our attempts to raise funds for Mattresses for Congo. We have recently received a request for twenty five more mattresses for the Butoke Orphanage & Clinic in Tshikaji, and we are working with Larry Sthreshley to help pay for shipping to send a container with forty bales of sheets and new mosquito nets to Congo. And we continue to look for new needs where we can help; it is my guess that we will see many during our trip next month.

Please consider continuing your financial support of Mattresses for Congo. The needs are ongoing and we need help to try to help where we feel called to do so.

Thanks again for you ongoing support and prayers for the work we are doing to help the people of Congo.

WOW! I'm so excited that you, and others with you were able to help raise $1410 for Living Water International. When combined with the Team we will be able to dig deep water wells in hard to reach areas of the world that are suffering from a lack of clean water.
Thanks for making a difference in so many lives!

If you want to read how the race personally impacted my life go to my blog: http://meandyouarts.com/blog/alive30ways

Dear Runforlaptops Donors!

Thank you so much for donating! So far your contribution has helped us raise almost $29,000!!!

The race is almost here! I leave on Monday April 1st. I arrive in the desert on April 3rd. I’ll have 2 days of administrative check-ins on April 5 and 6. Then from April 7th-13th I will be racing!

You can follow my personal race updates at this link: www.runforlaptops.edublogs.org (I get to send one email per day, the recipient of that email is going to post it to the blog).

OR go to: http://www.darbaroud.com/en/2013-edition/mds-timing/mds-timing-n-10.html to read how to email me between April 6th and April 12th (This information is also posted on my blog). You cannot email my gmail account, you have to follow the directions on the site. My race ID is 1047

Also apparently there will be live streaming video of the finish line for each day’s stage. So I guess if you are really into staring at a sandy finish line at odd hours, then you’ll have something to do.

Your support has been overwhelming. Thank you so much for helping to change the education of so many urban public school students.

THANK YOU!

Friends, As of today, Mattres…
Friends,
As of today, Mattresses for Congo has raised over $60,000.00 since June 6, 2012. We continue to work to help mission hospitals in the Democratic Republic of Congo. In addition to the 375 vinyl convered hospital mattresses provided to the hospitals in the Kasai, we have also provided mattresses and other medical equipment to a clinic in Kinshasa. We will continue to look for other ways to support these hospitals and the people they serve.

In addition, we are discussing expanding our efforts to mission hospitals in Malawi. The talks are very preliminary, but we hope to help there, too.

I will be returning to Congo in June and hope to take needed medical supplies and equipment such as sutures, blood pressure cuffs, stethoscopes, and a fetal dopler, to check fetal heartbeats.

Thanks again for your past support. Please help us continue to spread the word about what we're trying to do and the people we are trying to help, so that we can continue to raise money to fund this work.
