I have a passion for Africa and specifically for finding sustainable solutions to helping end poverty and hunger through economic development and education for women, especially.
I have a couple of big projects in Africa and have briefly worked in 8 or 9 African countries in the past on sustainable development projects. I am currently sidelined but trying my hardest to recover and get out of this wheelchair so I can get back to my dear friends in Africa, where I left my heart, so I can continue to be of service to the people who teach me so much.
I find that so many times people from the developed world go to the Third World thinking they are going to "save" or "rescue" the the Third World, but after spending a lot of time in the field actually working with the people, rolling up their sleeves and interacting, they end up realizing that their peers in The Third World have taught US and "rescued" US from our own skewed perspectives on life.
I'm not angry at God because I'm sick and in a wheelchair now. I believe that this will only be temporary, regardless of what doctors may think, but even if God decides this will be permanent while I'm here on Earth, the only thing that troubles me is finding out a new way for me to best fulfill my calling to serve my friends in Africa and South America and wherever else I'm meant to serve. Selfishly, though, I do so desperately want to go back to Africa because I love Sub-Saharan Africa, especially Rwanda and feel complete peace and serenity when I'm there working with the women and children, as if I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be, doing exactly what God intended.
I want my life to be well used. Life is a coin that can only be spent once - I want to spend it wisely. Please help me with your vote and your financial support of my project, which will enable my Board of Directors and volunteers to continue the work in Africa in my absence.
