Sunday April 10th at Café Du Nord in San Francisco, California
This Sunday, April 10th, local live music club Café Du Nord will host a local Americana Showcase event to benefit the victims of the recent 9.0 magnitude earthquake and subsequent tsunami in Japan. As the events of this disaster are still unfolding with the nuclear power plant failure, local country, western, and swing musicians have decided to pool collective resources and provide an afternoon and evening of entertainment with proceeds benefiting the American Red Cross effort in Japan.
This concert is part of a nation-wide effort being organized by roots musicians in the cities of Portland, Austin, LA, and San Francisco.
In addition to the performances by eight musical outfits, there will be a series of raffles to subsidize the collection, with fabulous raffle prices offered such as a ukulele lesson, dance lessons, CDs, and other terrific prizes.
The musical entertainment will include performances by members of the following bands (in order of appearance):
Tippy Canoe & the Paddlemen
Kit & The Branded Men
Toshio Hirano
Misisipi Mike
Belle Monroe & Her Brewglass Boys
Maurice Tani/Jenn Courtney:77 El Deora
Lil' Anne and the B-Star Wranglers
The Chazz Cats
DJ Tanoa Samoa Boy will spin records in the breaks!
Capping the evening will be a rare performance by The Chazz Cats, one of the dominant swing bands in San Francisco during the mid-late 1990s swing revival. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to see this band reunite at Café Du Nord, one of the hotbed locations for the exuberant swingin’ nineties.
