HERE'S THE STORY:
Hello Friends -
I am lucky to have incredible friends, a great wife, and wonderful life and the freedom to be as much (or as little) as I can be. As another year of natural disasters, war and suffering by those vastly less fortunate than me rolled along, I again found myself sitting on the sidelines not making a difference. If prosperity abroad leads to safety and prosperity here at home……I couldn’t be more underwhelmed with myself.
Insert my friend Jimmy Park. Last Spring my close friend Jimmy Park took on a new role as COO of Executives Without Borders (EWB). Executives Without Borders is dedicated to the mission of supporting organizations that help achieve the Millennium Development Goals set by the United Nations (http://www.undp.org/mdg/basics.shtml). EWB is actively supporting projects in Haiti, Sudan, Kenya, Honduras, India, and Rwanda by providing people and resources to non-profit organizations that are working in these areas.
Jimmy’s passion and relentless commitment to help these causes is extremely motivating. He’s also extremely competitive.
So, I had been talking about wanting to run the NYC marathon and Jimmy called my bluff. He asked me if I would help raise money for EWB and simultaneously watch him trounce me in the marathon. Having learned a bit more about EWB through the stories Jimmy brings back made this a perfect opportunity to make a real difference, in a meaningful way, with an organization that remains behind to help address the longer term issues and rebuild long after daily news and media has focused their attention elsewhere.
With that in mind, I am running the NYC Marathon to raise $3k of our total $34k goal for Executives Without Borders. Please support our cause and help us achieve our goal! Every little bit counts, many thanks to everybody.
