John Legend wrote -
The mission of the Show Me Campaign is to break the cycle of poverty using solutions that have been proven to improve people’s lives and to give them the opportunities to survive, thrive and succeed.
I wrote the song “Show Me” asking simple, honest questions about life, why there is so much suffering in the world, and what each of us can do about it. The Show Me Campaign takes its inspiration from the song and was launched so that people could get involved.
Believing that access to quality education is a civil right and that the current state of public education in the United States is a social injustice, John Legend’s Show Me Campaign aims to end educational inequality by spreading awareness about the issue and inspiring citizens to fight for every American child’s right to a quality public education.
The U.S. education system is failing to educate our country’s future leaders, but many schools have proven successful solutions. The Show Me Campaign supports increased adoption of these models so all children can attend great schools.
In Africa, Show Me works with Millennium Promise to provide clean water, health care, education and other basic tools that break the cycle of poverty.
