STUFF ABOUT ME:

I rock a bright yellow bomber jacket in Watts, California working for City Year Los Angeles. Everyday, I powerfully roll up to 112th Street Elementary School and engage in another day of trying to make a difference in the lives of my students.

A typical day includes:
-Tutoring 1st graders on how to read better and how to respond in a complete sentence.
-Tutoring 3rd graders on writing, reading comprehension, the intricacies of an excellent game of Checkers, and answering whatever question is brought up to me (I do a lot of talking about yetis).
-Planning events with my awesome team.
-Coordinating an after school program that involves homework help, impromptu step routines, extracurricular lessons (from b-boy dancing to cooking to sharks to the occasional stage combat workshop), snack, and a copious helping of chatting about life.

In other boots, I like to write plays, do theatre, read way too many books at once, doodle pictures of angels, and advocate for education reform and AIDS-related causes.

WHY YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR ME:

I'm not your mother's volunteer. I might be loud, crass, and crude, but I've got a heart of gold and I'm going to help make the change real. My spirits are high and I'm going to make sure all of my first graders can read on level by the end of the year.

Need a Mother’s Day gift? Imagine Scholar to the rescue!

$13 donation to our water project = an original Mother’s Day handwritten poem by an Imagine Scholar student (to be scanned and emailed to your mother).

Or if you’re feeling funky…

$87 donation to our water project = the aforementioned poem and a PERSONALIZED Mother’s Day rap video performance by the one and only Siyanda (another Imagine Scholar student)

If I were you, I get my mom the personalized rap video :)

Hi John,

We don't care if you're loud, crass or crude - we only care that you care. Here a vote!

Can you help us get to first place so we can win $5000 to plant 5000 TREES in the endangered Atlantic Forest of Brazil? Even a donation of just $10 will plant ten trees and get us that much closer to winning! Please visit http://www.crowdrise.com/plantatree and hit that big orange "Donate" button by May 4th, 11:59 pm est.

WE CAN WIN WITH YOUR HELP!

Thank you,
Midori

Your commitment to philanthropy is awesome and I just voted for you 'cuz I'm a sucker for my fellow do gooders. So I'm wondering - what are you doin' for St. Patrick's Day?

Before donning your party frocks, I'd like to ask you to think about what you'll spend for your night on the town and match those funds with a donation to The Nature Conservancy. Or consider staying in that night and donating the money you would have spent - you could even host and get all your buddies together and have them donate what they would have spent out.

We'd love to know if you'll join us in putting the green back in St. Patrick's day - you can go to http://www.crowdrise.com/greenstpatricksday/ to tell us about it and how you pledge to help.

Let's all Put the Green Back in 3/17! Thousands of dolphins and wolves will thank you - and you might even understand them if you speak dolphin or wolf.

For more information, go to http://www.crowdrise.com/greenstpatricksday/
