The RunBoston team is busy training for the Boston Marathon,raising funds to support our programs every step of the way.

Your tax-deductible contribution has helped the RunBoston team get off to a fast start toward meeting its pledge goal.

WalkBoston is the oldest pedestrian advocacy organization in the United States, and a charter member of America Walks. Our mission is to make walking safer and easier in Massachusetts to encourage better health, a cleaner environment and vibrant communities. As the state’s leading advocate for pedestrians, we have worked with over 65 communities addressing issues such as sidewalk and street design, transportation policies, safe routes to school, and walking marketing campaigns.

Since our founding 22 years ago, our understanding of the importance of walking has grown from seeing it as a basic transportation need, to understanding that it as the glue that holds our communities together; walking is a vital component to the solution of many of the issues face in our communities today.

Two of WalkBoston's most active ongoing campaigns are:
- Ensuring safe, convenient and attractive pedestrian connections as part of the state's $3 billion Accelerated Bridge Program, re-building hundreds of deteriorated bridges; and
- Helping lead Transportation for Massachusetts, a broad coalition working for a transportation system and land use patterns that supports walking.
