Our Mission is Simple

About J/P HRO
J/P Haitian Relief Organization began as an emergency relief operation immediately following the devastating earthquake of 2010. Our mission is simple: To save lives and bring sustainable programs to the Haitian people quickly and effectively. Over the last three years, J/P HRO has been on the ground, working with some of the most vulnerable populations to not only recover from the earthquake but to build a brighter future for themselves, their families and their country.
Today, J/P HRO is working with a staff that is now over 95% Haitian and 380 strong and implementing programs that focus on supporting the residents of Delmas 32 restart their lives. Early on, J/P HRO became camp manager of Pétion-Ville Camp, serving up to 60,000 internally displaced persons. Our teams are working every day to provide education, health, community development and economic opportunities.
J/P HRO has committed to the camp residents and to assist them in the transition to the surrounding neighborhoods. In 2013, J/P HRO programs will continue redevelopment and reconstruction projects in adjoining neighborhoods, such as Delmas 32, providing displaced families and local residents a vibrant, safe and secure community where they can return and begin to rebuild their lives.
To date our medical teams have seen and treated 350,000 patients and 430 children are in school and receiving quality, comprehensive instruction at no cost, along with a hot, nutritious lunch. Of the 60,000 residents in the Pétion-Ville Camp, 75 percent have transitioned home.
