Hello Team Running Buddies!
Happy March! What incredible work on spreading the word about adoptable dogs and shelter enrichment programs, as well as raising an INCREDIBLE amount of funds for the dogs already! I'm inspired by our amazing team on a daily basis. Just a quick update:
- The Sunday, March 4th group run (for people, not dogs) will be at Forest Park. We will meet at the Visitor's Center at 9am. We have team members of all experience levels, so please come out, meet some other Running Buddies teammates, and go at your own pace.
- For those of you who have signed up since the last mass email, a reminder that our friends at Stellina Café (www.stellinapasta.com) will be hosting a rally/fundraiser for Stray Rescue in conjunction with our Team Running Buddies efforts on Wednesday, April 11th! An incredibly generous 20% of the evening's take will go to our team's mission! I'll be in touch with specific times soon, as well as other rallies/fundraisers that are in the works.
- The training/behavior team has done a great job in updating the list of shelter dogs who are great running buddies. We'll get a group run with shelter dogs scheduled asap, since getting these dogs out and exercised is what this is all about!
- We met our goal of getting over 50 people to register for the race! In fact, we now have close to 70!!! That means we get our booth at the expo and our booth on race day for free. Way to go!
- For those of you who have recently signed up, I will be sending you a link to a Stray Rescue shelter dog momentarily. It can be easier for someone to get behind a cause when they see exactly where his or her money is going, so the dog to which you are assigned is to encourage people to donate to your cause (they are not specific dogs with which you'll be running). These are dogs that are currently in the shelter and will massively benefit from the great work you are doing. It's a way to show people that the money they donate to your individual cause is going to help the enrichment of a specific shelter dog and find a loving home. So, feel free to share the link to your shelter dog when reaching out for donations!
Thank you all again SO much for your support. We are catching the attention of people in the community and putting a spotlight on adoptable dogs and the enrichment programs that they need. Please let me know if you have any questions, and happy training/fundraising!
Best,
Jason Schipkowski
