ROCK PAPER OR SCISSORS: Paper
I have a passion for launching new businesses and markets. Especially ones that sell cheese and wine.....mmmm. But I digress.
In developing countries, starting a business may be the difference between life and death...livelihoods are a matter of survival. These brave entrepreneurs depend on their small enterprises to put food on the table, gain independence, or clothe their children.
Unfortunately, start-up capital (dough, moolah, cash) of any kind is difficult to obtain for even the savviest entrepreneur. Very difficult, actually. Nearly impossible.
Entrepreneurs are the heartbeat of any economy, large or small. Microfinance (small loans to those in poverty to spur entrepreneurship) is a great tool being used by roughly 7000 institutions across the globe to support 16 million entrepreneurs in developing countries to the tune of $2.5 billion. The potential to support small-scale economies throughout the globe is HUGE!
7000 projects might be a bit out of my reach, but Rome wasn't built in a day, either. Check out the MFI (MicroFinance Institution) I have chosen: www.wokai.org.
In addition to the above passion, I am a recent leukemia survivor. Any way I can help anyone else raise money for their projects relating to the effects of cancer....I am your girl. Cancer sucks.
WHY YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR ME:
Because I took time to floss my teeth before having that profile photo taken.
