LEMAY CHILD AND FAMILY CENTER wrote -
We are a group of parents, staff, Board Members, and volunteers running to promote healthy lifestyles and raise funds for a new Outdoor Learning Center and Play Area.
We are committed to supporting children’s development, and outside play is an important part of that process. However, our current outside play spaces limit our ability to offer the best opportunities. We have removed old equipment that was no longer safe, the playgrounds are not accessible for children of differing abilities, and water does not drain well off of our property, leaving it unusable at times. With nearly 3 acres of land, we can do better!
That’s why we are developing a new Outdoor Learning Center on our property!
This comprehensive project will create distinct playground areas for each age group that we serve, plus it will include gardening, natural features, bike and stroller paths, sports fields, shade, and much more! With a $350,000 grant from the St. Louis County Port Authority Community Reinvestment Fund, we are well on the way toward raising the $600,000 needed for the project.
If we raise $200,000 for the playgrounds by May 2013 the Port Authority willMATCH our donations dollar for dollar. PLUS, if we raise $50,000 for the required Stormwater Retention Project, they will provide up to $150,000 more!
