Leila Sarvghadi received her Bachelor of Arts in Global Affairs concentrating in Middle East and North African Studies while also minoring in Islamic Studies from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. She is currently in her final year at the Graduate Program for International Affairs (GPIA) at The New School for Public Engagement in New York, New York. Her concentration within this program of study is Socioeconomic Development, with specific interests in human rights, women and children's rights, and public health. Leila is currently formulating a working thesis on access to food via a comparative study between the United States and developing nations. She currently works as Website and Social Media Manager for Equity for Children, an initiative aimed at promoting child rights and well-being. She previously worked as an intern at the Peacebuilding and Development Institute at American University in Washington, DC where she helped build professional training skills for participants from the Georgia-Abkhazia region, and also analyzed field survey reports around reconstruction efforts in the Abyei region of Sudan. Leila recently completed an internship program in Cusco, Peru working with adolescent mothers and their children with the intention of preventing the abandonment of children.
