Hi everyone! All my life, I have been an animal lover and an avid supporter of the St. Louis Zoo as well. In early February, my friend Jessie inspired me to run in the Go! St. Louis 5k on April 14, 2012 in support of the Stray Rescue of St. Louis. Combining two of my passions (running and animals) into one event is going to be exhilarating, exciting, and rewarding!
At the present, I don't have any pets, but I'd love to think that my boyfriend's cat as well as my friends' dogs are my own. I love them all and look forward to seeing them at every given opportunity.
Photos on the left:
1) Taylor (left) and Izzie (right) - These are my friend's, Sam, dogs. Taylor is a pit bull and lab mix. Izzie is a golden retriever (and maybe Irish Setter) mix. Sam picked up Taylor from the Humane Society, and she picked up Izzie from a rescue organization at a PetSmart. (It is thought that Izzie may have been originally from a puppy mill :( ) They have such lovely and vibrant personalities; it's hard to believe they were shelter dogs! Taylor is a classic example of the misconception and misunderstanding of pit bulls. Look at that face! She is so sweet, and so is Izzie!
2) Cookie Monster (a.k.a. Kitty Kitty or Cookie) - This is my boyfriend's crazy-and-loveable cat, Cookie Monster. He found her outside his apartment building around late fall one year, and she would follow him from his front door to his car or to the dumpster when he'd take out the trash. He would leave food for her outside from time to time. One day it got too cold and he felt so bad for her that he decided to bring her inside. She's been with him ever since! Cookie Monster is hilarious: she loves to play fetch and will scale the side of a door frame. Crazy cat doesn't begin to describe her. She's also very sweet =) I also have posted a video of her here.
