STUFF ABOUT ME:

I believe we can save the world. I'm a hopeless optimist. I believe that everyone wants to do good. Can do good. WILL do good!
I am excited by thunderstorms, iTunes free singles of the week, random acts of kindness, and good news. I like to rediscover retro albums and old cinema. I listen to French rock bands and watch French films even though I've grown up studying Spanish.
I am a devotee of The Economist and the New York Times, and BBC World News is my homepage.
I read the articles that make me frustrated. Articles on war. Terror. Injustice. Violations. Abuse. OIL SPILLS.
Articles that make me burn. I know, then, that I must do something.

I'm a teenager. So what? Who says I can't save the world?

WHY YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR ME:

Why NOT save the world?
Why not together?
Votes are lagniappe. Icing on the cake. [Vegan] gravy.
Vote, donate, support!
One good act sets others in motion. Giving is perfectly contagious, isn't it?!

My English teacher says a good writer (or an activist) should always establish some ethos. So here goes...I love to volunteer. I love to give. I love to donate my graduation money to all of your fantastic projects on Crowdrise, and I'll keep doing it until I have not a penny to spare. When I cannot give money, I give time. I give time to sort and weigh children's vitamins for the CareNow Foundation's clinics in rural Africa and I give time to joyfully click the (+) button to give everyone on this site a well-deserved 100 points. :) Each of the projects listed here mean something to me, so check them out if you'd like. Just please know my contribution to them extends past a plea for donations.

Rock on, Crowdrisers!

Happy May! It’s finally spring, and kids will soon be running out the school doors into sweet summer freedom. But over 19,000,000 children across the country do not own a single book. Can you imagine a summer without even a little fun reading?

Please take a minute to check out Reader to Reader's newest fundraiser with Twive & Receive: http://twive.razoo.com/story/Amherst-Loves-Books Your donation on June 14th could help us win a share of $30,000! Now more than ever, the smallest donation can have a huge impact. You can sign up for a reminder email on our page, or if you just can't wait to get books in the hands of children, donate now. Thank you for your support!

I love your page Sarah! Your enthusiasm for your projects really shines through :)

I'm new to the Crowdrise world, but it's been so great to 'meet' such likeminded and caring people around the world. I recently just arrived in South Africa to work with the Imagine Scholar team, and honestly feel so blessed! The students are not only extremely hard working and motivated, but moreover, have shown me what inspiration is in its truest form. There is no doubt in my mind that they will all make a significant difference during their generation!

Anyways, if you're interested in supporting a new cause, please check out our small water fundraiser! We're trying to provide 6 months of clean drinking water for our students.

Happy Crowdrising and best wishes,
Megan

Happy April, CR friend!
Reader to Reader is auctioning off some great artwork to raise funds for our many international programs, thanks to our friends at the ART4GOOD Foundation. If you like art, books, or education, stop by and take a look at the 35 beautiful pieces available! http://bit.ly/HjFtMO
You get a beautiful piece of art, and RTR can:
-provide special education programs for children in the Dominican Republic;
-teach women to read in Nigeria;
-keep abandoned children in childhood through reading and improve theater in rural China;
-sponsor Haitian kids to finish school;
-continue to grow our public library in a coffee-farming Costa Rican village;
AND support many other programs that do wonderful work in India, Mexico, Nicaragua, Kosovo, Ghana and other countries.
If art isn’t your thing, you can still support our programs by donating or joining our team. Take a look at my projects to see more of what we do.
All the best, and HAPPY READING,
Kat
