THE STORY:
Thank you for visiting my page!
You've read correctly, I've signed up to run my first marathon this October at the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon in Minnesota. I'll be joined by friends, my husband, and my little sister who is fundraising along with me.
We decided to raise money for a charity called Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome Association (RSDSA). Many people have never heard of RSD but it is a painful nerve disorder that affects many Americans, including one of our family members. Imagine your foot is asleep and you have pins and needles feeling. Now multiply that by 100, make the pain constant, make your skin sensitive to hot and cold and even change colors. Those are just a few of the symptoms people with RSD battle with every day. People with RSD are often misdiagnosed or under-diagnosed as this "invisible pain" has many symptoms, affects people differently and has symptoms that overlap with many other illnesses.
RSD has no cure and the treatments are often as painful as the RSD with short lived relief. RSD not only has no cure, but it will often spread vertically up one side of the body or from left to right. Please help us fund research so people, like our mom, can fight this disabling condition!
Thank you for all your support!
