Hello dearest reader, friend, film enthusiast, and arts supporter!
My name is Logan Crow, and I am the founder and executive director of Long Beach Cinematheque, going on its third year of putting on some pretty cool film and multimedia events in Long Beach, CA. I am also the founder and senior editor of the film site MondoCelluloid.com, proudly doing its part to support Los Angeles' surviving repertory cinemas since 2008.
In May of 2013, the Cinematheque will be taking on its largest project to date - the Long Beach Film Festival. The work, as you can well imagine, starts TODAY.
What separates the Long Beach Film Festival from other community film fests? Our film festival will directly impact over two dozen community arts, humanities, and educational organizations, as each film, program, and series will be co-presented by a different Long Beach-based non-profit organization. Each organization will introduce themselves at their specific screening or event, and the Cinematheque will then donate 50% of the tickets sold to that event to the host organization. The Long Beach Film Festival will be a three-day event that will mark a major accomplishment of our continued mission - to employ the art of cinema to support the Long Beach community.
In the effort of to raise funds for this great event, I have started a team of dedicated film lovers, arts and community enthusiasts, and all-around wonderful people to run the 2012 Long Beach Marathon, and to raise funds to make the Long Beach Film Festival a reality! And keep an eye out - many of them will be running their 5 K's, half-marathons, and marathons dressed as their favorite costume characters. I hear Braveheart might be making an appearance...
This is my own personal fundraising page. I will be training alongside my teammates, and will accomplish my very first Half Marathon this year - all in the name of CINEMA!
Please donate whatever you can in sponsorship of me, the Long Beach Film Festival, and the permanence and longevity of a healthy and eclectic film presence in Long Beach. Your gift is tax-deductible, and will help me and the Long Beach Cinematheque provide a very fantastic gift to Long Beach in May of 2013.
