BENEFITING: The Millennium Campus Network
THE STORY:
Working together with the community of La Primavera, Guatemala GlobeMed at Loyola is raising money towards the development of a medicinal plant garden. Utilizing skills learned while hiding during the Guatemalan civil war, the community health workers of La Primavera's clinic will be able to cultivate local plants for their medicinal properties to combat major preventative diseases that afflict the community including diarrhea, pyoderma, bronchitis, parasites, and gastritis. In a collaborative partnership between the community leaders of La Primavera and GlobeMed we hope to create a sound and sustainable health infrastructure for the community of La Primavera.
