A spring vote for you!

With all the headlines screaming disaster and heartache, it's easy to get disheartened. Reader to Reader has supported schools damaged by tornadoes, public libraries devastated by flooding, and communities deeply affected by local tragedy. But each day we see examples of how much good is out there. That goodness is not always in the headlines. Sometimes, it's tucked quietly away, but it's there, and is the very reason we do this work--to bring books and other resources to the next generation that so richly deserves them.

Reader to Reader needs your help to get books in the hands of children across the country. Will you donate or join our team? Your support makes a difference!

Thanks,
Kat

Hi everyone! Thank you so much for your support. I did complete the 40 miles (63K) on Saturday. 4 ultrarunners started and 2 finished and we were joined throughout the run by people running various segments of the run ranging from 5-20 miles. I was thrilled to have my husband Bill join us for the last 20 miles. Each mile was marked with a photo and information about one of our Fallen Heroes. It was touching and sad. And I hope that next year we have no additional service members to honor. 63 is way too many. I don't think I can do much for those that have lost loved ones, but I am blessed with the ability to run. I hope that I was able to effectively honor and pay respect to these families. Your support was so critical. We can't do this alone. I have been asked how I am recovering.... I am doing well. I am back to running and strength training and prepping for a 100 mile run in Oregon in September. You're probably thinking that I'm crazy. Well, yes.... that's what keeps me interesting. It is very important to me to keep challenging my limits. I truly understand that nothing is permanent and that life can change in a split second. It is so important to make the most of every precious moment that's been given to us. I'm grateful to all of you! Thank you!!!

JUNE VOTE FOR YOU!! Hopefully a successful one for you and your projects! :D Much Respect :D

To try and help ease the suffering during these hard times, I am raising money for the CAPUCHIN SOUP KITCHEN in Detroit as well as a DOLLAR DRIVE for FORGOTTEN HARVEST.. Both two incredible groups of HUGE HEARTED people that dedicate their time and lives to fill the bellies and ease the pain of the endlessly growing homeless population and destitution..

EVERY DOLLAR goes a LONG way, and any donations or support you could help out with, truly means SO much!

Thank you..

CROWDRISING SINCE: Mar 21, 2012
Stuff About Me:

My Rotary is working with Purple Heart Homes of North Carolina to build a home for wounded Marine Cpl Manny Jimenez in the town of Glastonbury, CT. The Rotary is also a supporter of the Run for the Fallen CT event which is scheduled for July 28, 2012. My idea is to combine these two worthy causes.

On behalf of the Rotary Club of Glastonbury, I am training to complete a 10 mile run at the Run for the Fallen CT event. All donations received will be sent to Purple Heart Homes to help them continue their mission of providing accessible housing solutions to wounded veterans around the country.

To see the progress on Manny's home, please stop on Facebook and look at the photo albums. They form a chronological narrative that starts with the partnership of The Rotary Club of Glastonbury and Purple Heart Homes and continues with the support of local citizens, small business and tradesman. Add to that some folks from H.E.A.R.T. 9-11 and you've really got something.

Here's the link to Manny's Place on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/MannyJimenezPHH. To read more about Purple Heart homes, check out their website, http://www.purplehearthomesusa.org/.

I know, I know, that's a lot of clicking.

However, the amazing work of Purple Heart Homes is well worth the clicking. Cheers and thank you so much for the support! Every small donation adds up to really making a difference. Be part of the solution!
