It's been nearly 6 months since my epic charity running of the Boston Marathon back in April and I'm still in awe of what we've accomplished and thankful for everyone's inspiration and support.

This video was just filmed by CrossFitMedia and posted on their web site. I hope it provides you inspiration and pride.

I just wanted to thank everyone for supporting Vision42K and helping to raise nearly $20,000 to support NBP and their work to promote braille literacy. NBP is truly a special place doing amazing things thanks to your kindness. Recently NBP was featured on a local tv segment. Here's the link (http://www.wellesleymedia.org/inside-wellesley.html).

Just click the 'play button' on the video to see the power of your compassion in action.

You took the time to not only consider a charity like NBP and my fundraiser efforts but you provided generous donations that inspire and promote literacy. I am very thankful to and for each of you and I'll continue to honor your support with my commitment to making a difference for those in need.

I'll be sharing my next inspirational adventure via inspirethefire.com so stay tuned for that or drop me an email/voicemail and I'll make sure you get the scoop.

Btw, on a side note, thanks to all the online support and folks at Crowdrise we were also able to provide a scholarship to send an underprivileged child to Summer camp. How's that for not just doing good but doing great!! Thank everybody!

Respectfully yours,

Chris Cavallerano

Vision42K Sprint to the Fini…
Vision42K Sprint to the Finish

When Vision42K began it was just an idea... a BIG idea... with an even BIGGER social purpose... to raise funds in support of National Braille Press and literacy for blind children.

I couldn't have predicted the amazing support that I received. I couldn't have trained in blazing 90 degree heat to prepare for race-day conditions. I put my heart and mind to the test along with an indomitable spirit and I BELIEVED because YOU BELIEVED in me and the mission of NBP... and together WE did it!!

On April 16, 2012 I completed the 116th Boston Marathon blindfolded to show the world that anything is possible with the right support and determination. Many people opted-out of the race; 2,100 people required medical assistance; and 100s dropped out during the race. I lost 10 lbs. during the race. It was as brutal as it was beautiful but I was on a Mission and your support was the momentum that carried me to the Finish Line. Thank you.

I want to share a few exciting updates with you:
- If you'd like to hear and see a race recap just visit Vision42k.org (share your thoughts in the comments).
- Vision42K was selected as an Impact charity on the Crowdrise fundraising site (Think Oscars for Charity. This is HUGE!!)
http://www.crowdrise.com/community/impact
-The Magic of Multiples still applies... PLEASE spread the word, forward this email. We are up to $12K and rising and I know we can get to $15K by May 4.

I'm still working feverishly on Foundation/Corporate support to match contributions so if you have any ideas or know a company that wants to be associated with WINNING! and COURAGE tell them about Vision42K.

Together we truly have made Vision42K an Epic Charity Run.

Celebrate your support knowing you gave and joined Vision42K at it's inception... when the risk was at it's greatest and outcome most uncertain... share our victory for braille and literacy for all!

So if I can ask you one last favor, if it moves you as it has me, bring a few friends on board to collectively match what you've given. It will not only increase the dollars we raise but more than double the positive impact we can make in the lives of the visually impaired.

Together, let's sprint to the finish!!!

My deepest regards and thanks to all,

Chris Cavallerano

I wanted to take a minute to thank everyone for being so generous and donating. The race was hot and difficult but ultimately a lot of fun. More importantly, we were able to raise over $500,000 to support children and families suffering from childhood cancer and research to help combat those cancers. Thanks so much!

Well its over ..... aaargh F…
Well its over ..... aaargh FINALLY! The Kenyans managed to escape for another year - but they gave them a 1 hour start on me - really is that fair?? It was a furnace out there - well over 2000 runners from a 22000 field ended up in the medical tents (it was my day off so I thought I'd stay away from medical facilities, or else I would have too!) I went out fast but it was just too hot to run and so like many of the runners slowed to a walk-jog to cover the distance. But the MGH team raised over $ 1/2 million... and my legs have begun to unstiffen enough to allow my short term memory loss to kick in and think about next year....not..... well maybe in about 11 months time anyway...!

I've posted some pics of the race on the site for you to see.

Last year to the day April 16th was when Natalie Cohen began her ultramarathon of surgeries - she's back home after a grueling trip, completely cured. Well done Natalie!!

Thanks for all the support - I literally could not have done this without you.

CROWDRISING SINCE: Jan 31, 2012
Stuff About Me:

Why am I running the marathon? Because I can!   I am running on behalf of children and their families who are left with the unbelievable task of facing a future with a life limiting illness.  I am running to raise money for Pediatric Palliative care. What is palliative care? Palliative care is care given to to children  to  help improve their quality of life and to bring joy to them and their families as they fight life limiting illness. The funds raised by the members of our team will go directly to the MGHfC Palliative Care program, which provides an additional layer of support for these children and families. The palliative care team focuses on maximizing a child’s quality of life, providing relief from pain, symptoms, and stress, smoothing transitions of care, coordinating communication, and improving a family’s experience of care.

My goal is to raise 5-10 thousand dollars for this worthy cause, but I can't do it alone. I need the support of my friends, family and colleagues to make my goal! Any donation of any size is welcome.

Many of my team members are partnering with individual children in their run. I have been doing this too long to do that! I am running with all the patients I have cared for in mind, those in the past, and those still bravely fighting their batlles.
