STUFF ABOUT ME:
Honestly, I've never been a charity fan. I've dodged more than my fair share of charity workers in shopping centres, on the street etc usually with the excuse "Sorry im running late". And never had I ever considered doing hard work to raise money for others. In fact, hard work for MYSELF was a tough enough ask.
I'm not sure what changed that to be honest. I had always wanted to compete in a Stair Running conpetition, and this year I was looking around the Internet and stumbled on the date for the Sydney Tower Run Up. I bit the bullet and signed up. Then I started an Every Day Hero fundraising page and raised $570 for Surf Life Savers Australia. And just like that the bug had bitten.
I now actively search for torturous ways to treat my body in the name of charity. I've done the Tower Run in 19 minutes, a 10km run in 1 hr 7 minutes. I hope to slash those times next year. My ambitions are to eventually complete the Sydney Marathon. I also want to travel to America and do the empire State building run and the New York marathon. Maybe one day I'll have the money for those (or sponsors to pay the money for those...)
Parkinson's Disease has become my cause of choice. I saw my grandpa struggle worse and worse with the disease before he passed away. So it's something close to my family. I'm also a big Michael J Fox fan.
So stay tuned, I'll have some causes up and running here. In fact, I'm organizing a charity golf day with my pals as we speak!
