I wanted to send along an initial thank you for supporting my Boston Marathon run.

It was a tough day on the body, but a great day for the spirit. The support that runners got from fans along the route was indescribable. It’s like you are a rock star for a day… albeit a very slow and weary rock star.

The support that I received and continue to receive for Golf Fights Cancer was also overwhelming and inspiring. This year the team of Golf Fights Cancer runners grew to TEN runners… we collectively raised a record $80,000. That money is going to be earmarked for The Hole in the Wall Gang’s Hospital Outreach Program (HOP). Thanks to your generosity, we have funded HOP program at one hospital for AN ENTIRE YEAR!!

Golf Fights Cancer was lucky and proud to be a part of the John Hancock Charity Program this year. On the JH Marathon Facebook page, they have a cool feature where you can describe your marathon experience in 26 words and share it with others. To that end, I am happy to share my 26 Words with you, my generous marathon benefactors: “Boston Marathon is a shared ritual that builds community, deepens friendships, and engenders confidence. The experience strengthens bonds, spotlights character, reveals generosity, and affirms the spirit”.

Thanks for being a part of my Boston Marathon experience and helping me win the day. I appreciate your generosity, value your friendship and thank you for making a difference with Golf Fights Cancer.

Dear Friends,
Just a quick but heartfelt thanks for your months of support and donations for Special Olympics through the Boston Marathon program. You once again this year stepped up in a BIG way - and the 5 dollar donations mean every bit as much as the 500 dollar ones.

As for the race - the heat was tough, but ultimately bearable. Boils down to this: drink water & Gatorade at the stations every mile, pour cold water over your head any chance you get, and run through every fire hydrant or garden hose someone's opened up for you - all to stay hydrated and keep the body temp down. And this year in particular, having family and friends who could make it to the course to cheer in person really helped.

But whether you were there in person or in spirit, I thank all of you for your support and friendship. I am humbled by your individual and collective generosity.
