Hello friends, family, and HEAT!
Tomorrow at this time I will be on the marathon course attempting to finish the 26.2 miles! I'm excited - and nervous. They are predicting temperatures into the 80s tomorrow, and after training exclusively in the cooler winter months, it will be a physical and mental challenge to run in the heat. I will NOT be going for a PR tomorrow, but simply to finish!
I wanted to send out an update to first say THANK YOU to all of my supporters! Thank you so much. Your generous donations and perpetual support never cease to amaze me. Alyssa, who never quite understood the allure of running the marathon was always eager to help out; by volunteering in the medical tents , as an enthusiastic bystander, and even as a fellow donator. Outside of the contributions to the marathon its self, her own history and compassion for others make this team particularly special to my heart and her memory.
Secondly, for those of you looking to track my progress tomorrow, I can be tracked online by going to www.baa.org. My bib number is 25546, or you can just enter my name as a search. The face of the website will be changed in the morning to assist in the runner tracking system which will be update with my progress every 5k. My wave startes at 10:40, but it'll probably be a good 10-15 mins before I actually cross the starting line.
If you prefer a more hassel free update on my progress tomorrow, you can sign up for athelete alerts to have text messages sent to your phone at the 10k, half marathon, 30k and finish line.
Again, thank you all for your wonderful support. This is my 9th marathon, and my 6th Boston. Although running is a singular and sometimes lonely sport, over the course of 26.2 miles I gain courage, endurance, and the will to push on by thinking of all of those who "run with me" by donating and supporting this wonderful cause. Thank you for being the wind on my back!
Please keep checking in on my website as I plan to update it with photos from tonights pasta dinner, and pictures from our warm-up tent in the morning.
Keep on running!
Meagan
