Stuff About Me:
You know that old Greenpeace addage "Think Globally, Act Locally" ... I'm doing my best to follow in suit. With all the suffering in the world, doing otherwise is an overwhelming prospect. But, I try to always remain conscious of how all my decisions and ways of being affect everyone and everything in the world around me.

What I'm most passionate about right now is the Global Warming crisis and how that issue is severly affecting communities ... countries even, like Haiti. Global Warming is not just some hot topic for politicians or radical environmentalists, it's a real life issue for all concerned about human suffering as a result of climate change & its related disasters. Governments are solely focusing on "energy" and even suppressing information from studies that show how the agriculture industry (meat produced for consumption) and its related affects has become the number one cause of Global Warming.

I know I'm on my soap box here, but, just bear with me a moment. Let's take the Amazon Rainforest for example, as just one piece of the puzzle. According to a recent report issued by Greenpeace, nearly 80% of deforestation in the Amazon results from clearing for cattle ranching. Unfortunately, cattle ranching not only leads to destruction of the rainforest itself, but, it also results in destruction of the wildlife habitat, the seizure of lands occupied by indigenous people, and the release of harmful greenhouse gas emissions during the deforestation. Therefore, as responsible caregivers and co-inhabitants of this planet, we must make the shift from a meat-based diet to a plant-based diet in order to conserve our resources and save the rainforests.

A couple of months ago, Prince Charles of the UK was interviewed and quoted as saying, "the rain forests provide the rainfall that helps crops grow around the world as well as cleaning the air that we breathe and absorbing carbon on a vast scale. They are also the repository of a vast array of biodiversity, without which humanity cannot survive on this planet. Quite simply, they are a massive global utility helping to sustain life as we know it. If we lose the rain forests, and the essential ecosystem services they provide to the planet, then the costs we will all face (not just those who live in the rain forest nations) will be far, far greater than anything we are seeing today.” He couldn't be anymore spot on.
