RUN FOR A REASON!
The mission of the Migraine Research Foundation is to assist sufferers by providing information and support and to end the debilitating pain of migraine by raising funds for innovative research to further the understanding of its causes, to develop improved treatment targets, and to find the cure.
Although 36 million Americans suffer the debilitating pain, migraine is still misunderstood, under-diagnosed and under-funded. Sufferers wage a constant battle with family, friends, and colleagues that don't take the crippling symptoms seriously. 14 million face chronic pain (15 or more days a month) and a life of disability. 10% of school-age children battle migraine, even infants. Women suffer at a rate three times greater than men. Every 10 seconds, someone goes to the emergency room with a headache or migraine. U.S. employers lose more than $13 billion a year from 113 million lost work days due to migraine.
Despite its major impact on society, businesses, and families, migraine research is severely underfunded. Many doctors are still under-informed or unsympathetic, and very few are specialists in the field.
Effective treatments, prevention, and a cure will only come from research into migraine's causes.
