FRIENDS OF THE MISSOURI BREAKS MONUMENT 's Fundraiser:
Upper Missouri River National Monument
FRIENDS OF THE MISSOURI BREAKS MONUMENT
EVENT: Save our Lands, Rivers and Trails!
HERE'S THE STORY:
Of all of our National Monuments, the Upper Missouri River Breaks National Monument is unique in character, in its isolation and fragile highly erodible geological formations. When President Clinton established the Monument, the Friends organization became an advocate for responsible management practices in accordance with the Presidential proclamation. The Friends of the Missouri Breaks has taken on its role to safeguard the Monument from excessive and detrimental use and to work with the BLM in developing management plans and to develop conservation projects.
We are currently engaged in riparian restoration projects, and collecting and dispersing flea beetles to control the noxious weed, leafy spurge. The Friends are also working with BLM on stewardship projects in which volunteers monitor prehistorical and archaeological sites.
This is our story as Friends. We need your help to protect this special landscape for all to enjoy now and in the future. Please become a member and please donate generously so we can continue our work.
