THE STORY:
Growth has everything to do with Morokoshi Nursery School. And it isn't only the kids who are growing... in 2010 Morokoshi developed a tree planting program to address the rapid deforestation in their rural community. The kids were only too happy to get involved. In this rural agricultural area of Kenya, deforestation has taken away 99% of the forests, lowering the water table, causing erosion, and bringing challenge to this area's farmers - and future farmers. This growing generation of 5 year olds needs this to change!
SpanAfrica was there for the initial environmental assessment, and provided the first funds to start the Morokoshi tree planting project. In the program, Morokoshi students learn about trees, plant and tend their own saplings, and have been telling their community about their work. The growing has started!
SpanAfrica is also growing! We have recently brought on staff to take our organization to the next level of valuable partnership with grassroots organizations. In order to re-engage with Morokoshi, and our other 25 current grassroots partner organizations in Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, and Ghana - we are needing to raise $9,000 to fund an initial program that can get SpanAfrica on its feet. We would like you to get involved with our efforts!
For every $50 donated to SpanAfrica under this project, we will fund Morokoshi's planting of 10 trees!
We will also give you a personalized certificate for your support. Trying to find a gift for someone on your list who has it all already? Morokoshi's students have a great idea you can get behind!
Make your mark!
