THE STORY:
Did you know that music can lower your blood pressure, reduce your heart rate, and even lessen your perception of pain? That's why hospitals are innovating with the use of music to help sick children under their care.
And, that's why our San Francisco chapter of DFB is raising money for the music therapy program at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital. The goal is to raise $5,000 to provide this creative and therapeutic outlet for children who are hospitalized due to serious illness.
Specifically, we will be covering the costs for 12 music therapy group sessions, six sessions in the outpatient dialysis unit, and six open studio music sessions (when children can explore music and various instruments on their own). Additionally, 50 young patients will receive individualized music therapy sessions at their bedsides.
Help us bring the healing power of music to these kids - and maybe we'll even express our thanks with a little serenade!
