Dear Friends,

I ran the Philadelphia Half Marathon in November on behalf of Neurofibromatosis.  During my training (or lack thereof) I received many emails from families whose lives have been affected by NF.  Hearing their stories made me reflect and become much more appreciative of the blessings that I have been given in this life.

During the Philly Half, I saw many other people running for charities.  Many ran with pictures of loved ones on their shirts.  Some of the pictures were of loved ones who were no longer living, and some were of those that they hoped to help cure with their efforts.

I quickly came to the realization that it is fairy easy to make a significant difference in someone's life.  In an effort to help make such a difference, I decided to run my first marathon in April.  While I am a bit in awe of the challenge, I am inspired by the thought of helping others.  I am asking you to help me make a difference for those whose lives are affected by NF and contribute to me campaign to raise money for NF.  A little goes a long way, and I would appreciate any contribution that you could make, no matter how small.  Thank you in advance for your support.

Neurofibromatosis (pronounced neuro-fibroma-tosis) is a genetic disorder that can cause tumors to form on the nerves anywhere in or on the body at any time. NF is associated with disfigurement, learning disabilities, deafness, vision impairment, epilepsy and cancer. At this time, there is no effective treatment or cure for NF. NF affects three times as many people as muscular dystrophy and cystic fibrosis combined, yet many people have never even heard of it. We need to change that!

The mission of Neurofibromatosis, Northeast is to find the cure for NF by promoting scientific research, creating awareness, and supporting those who are affected by NF.
