EVENT DATE: Apr 16, 2012

THE STORY:

It is a privilege to be part of the Neurofibromatosis (NF) Boston Marathon team for the third year in a row. NF is a genetic disorder that can casue tumors to form on the nerves anywhere in or on the body at any time. At this time there is no effective treament or cure for NF. NF affects three times as many people as muscular dystrophy and cystic fibrosis combined.

Like most people, I had never heard of NF until it touched our family personally. Our niece, Jennifer, is a beautiful, intelligent, energetic 9 year old. She was diagnosed on her first birthday with NF1. So far she is enjoying a normal healthy childhood. At this point it is uncertain how severe her symptoms might become. Living with these uncertainties creates great worry for the parents and loved ones of a child with NF.

This is why raising awareness of NF and funding research is so important. Over the last two year we have raised over $7000 with the generous support of many old friends, new friends and family members. We are so grateful to all of you for your generosity. This year we hope to exceed our past goals and push us over the $10,000 mark with your help!
