WHY YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR ME:
While these things are never easy to write and marathons are not always easy to run, of all the miles we have accumulated together as brothers over the last few years, this year's NYC marathon is certainly shaping up to be the most profound (if I may be so (new)bold in speaking for us both).
I've (Nick) had the good fortune of working along side Christy during the making of her documentary film profiling the state of maternal health around the world, "No Woman, No Cry" and subsequently the founding/launching of her advocacy and mobilization campaign, Every Mother Counts. Christy is a passionate, brilliant and tireless leader for a cause that affects hundreds of thousands of girls and women each year and we're very excited to be running alongside Christy and the Every Mother Counts Team.
I (Alex) am thrilled to be running alongside Nick, Christy, and the Every Mother Counts Team this year. As many of you know, I’ve developed a passion for running in the past few years. Completing the 2010 NYC marathon was one of my proudest accomplishments, especially having overcome a number of obstacles to get there. This year is all the more meaningful as I will be running not just for myself, but to raise awareness (and money!) for a cause I truly believe in.
Our maternal grandmother, Marguerite Marie Elise Fauquenois, died due to complications related to her pregnancy and while her passing was well before our time, we are dedicating every mile to her memory along with the countless women who suffer needlessly each year.
